Agricultural extension and advisory services is critical in making agriculture sustainable and resilient amidst COVID-19, Climate change and ICT revolutions. In preparing for today and the future, AEAS should focus beyond the horizon to position itself to respond to current and future development needs and challenges through compliant policy and practice for AEAS. AEAS has been less adaptive to shocks and disruptions, thus making farmers to be more vulnerable and less resilient. A number of tools exist that are critical in planning and influencing the future of AEAS practice through foresighting and scenario analysis techniques. AFAAS has some implementing mechanisms in place and the Foresight4AEAS initiative is supporting country level AEAS initiatives on scenario planning and to respond to future shocks on climate variability, COVID-19 and changes in ICT among others.
